What is Lanka Nursing School?
Medical science has come a long way in helping patients to live longer. As much as physicians are needed in the medical process, nurses are also important to patients. Nurses provide their patients with the doctor’s recommendations to improve their health. Nurses do not gain their exceptional level of skill overnight they work hard in nursing school learning the latest medical information to help their patients overcome their health issues. The health-care industry has continued to change dramatically over the past few years, transforming the roles of nurses and escalating the opportunities for those who graduate from nursing school. The current shortage of nurses is caused by an increasing number of hospitalized patients who are older and more acutely ill, a growing elderly population with multiple chronic health problems, and expanded opportunities in HMOs, home care, occupational health, surgical centers, and other primary-care settings. Expanding technological advances that prolong life also require more highly skilled personnel.
History
Our institution, LANKA NURSING SCHOOL – Kurunegala is one of the major leading nursing schools in Sri Lanka which provides Nursing assistants and Care Givers to Private Health Sector as well as the Foreign health demands.
This Nursing School was started as King’s College of Nursing in the year of 2007 by Dr. Kamal Jayasinghe, Pediatrician Dr. Wijewardene and VOG Dr. Chandra Peiris which was the Director board at that time. In the year of 2011, the name of the school then changed to LANKA NURSING SCHOOL.
In 2014 the School was owned by the director Mrs. W.M.C.T Bandara which is the current principal of the School. The current members of the director board are Mr. T.M.N.D.U Bandara & Mrs. W.M.C.T Bandara.
Our institution is registered under Tertiary Vocational and Educational Commission (TVEC). At present we conduct Nursing Assistant NVQ Level 3&4, higher national Diploma NVQ Level 6, Care giver NVQ Level 3&4, Pharmacy Technician NVQ Level 4 and Child care center operations NVQ Level 4.
